THE OTHER GIRL

*clearing cobwebs* yes, I know, I am a horrible blogger. I am sorry for leaving for so long but I have really really really been too lazy busy to update. I am here now and I really really (don't mind the number of "really" I type, its for emphasis) hope you guys are not too angry with me (which means nobody will read or comment on this post which will make me very very sad).
You know I'm not good with apologies, I am really trying my best here..........
OK then, thank you for forgiving me, you guys are the best!
*waving at my new followers* welcome lovely people, thank you for following my boring awesome blog.

Tee is my prince charming, my baby, my boo. He’s everything the romance novels I’ve been reading since primary school described. He’s tall, dark, handsome and sweet. If you are part of the people that still wonder if the “butterfly in the tummy effect” is real, please wonder no more. It’s as real as the sky is blue.
So I had given up on love after so many attempts. I thought there was no such thing as prince charming and butterflies and happily ever after……..those only exist in novels. I was so wrong.
I love Tee, he loves me……I was living the dream.
I took my bath as I sang “just the way you are” the fifteenth time. Tee makes me giddy. I will be seeing him soon. Its Saturday, the only day in the week we spend alone, away from all the stress and drama of work and family. The only day that makes my weekdays bearable.
I looked at my reflection in the mirror and smiled.
“I love how you paint your face” he would say
“duh……its not paint, its makeup”
“what’s the difference?”
“I don’t know, I just know it’s different”   I always say and he would continue teasing me.
One last look at the mirror and I was out of the door.

He opened the door and smiled at me…..the captivating, endearing smile and my insides turned to jelly. He still has that effect on me, one look into his eyes and the butterflies threaten to jump out of my tummy. It’s been 2 months; I’m supposed to be immune to his charms now.
There’s this thing about Tee; he knows everything. He knows what I want, when I want it, how I feel…………..everything. So I was not surprised when I got inside and saw all my special delicacies served in a mouth watering way.
“What’s the occasion?”
“Just celebrating you”
Now who said I can’t be happy? Who said I’m not the luckiest girl in the frigging world? Who said………………………..I can keep asking the questions but he was saying something.
“You’ve brought so much joy into my life these past months……………” I was no longer listening. Who said you have to die to be in heaven? I was there already.
I was smiling…….no, grinning like a five year old.
We ate and laughed and joked and had a wonderful time and then it was time to go
As I was about opening the door, he pulled me back and held me close
“There’s something I need to tell you”
“You love me. I know”
I pulled him closer and kissed him
“Yeah I do but that’s not it……….you may need to sit down”
It’s too soon to propose, isn’t it? Yeah, I thought so too. I’m saying yes anyways.
“I love you and I can’t live without you”
Huge smile
“But last year, my parents arranged for me to get married to a girl……”
WHAT!?
“We are not married yet, we are just engaged…………… and she's coming over next week”
I felt weak. All the butterflies died and they are secreting a very toxic poison in my system.
“Why are you telling me now?”
“Because I don’t want to lose you, I still love you”
Tee is my prince charming, my baby, my boo and right now, I feel like putting a bullet through his head.

*I saw this story somewhere and it made me cry. You should read it

TEMPTATIONS IV

Part I
Part II
Part III

Akpos rose, I rose.
With my fakest smile I said “hey Tessie”. She totally ignored me.
“I said what are you doing here? So this is the friend you’re “going out with”?”
“Tessie, can you stop shouting and sit down? Let’s talk about this.”
He was angry but it makes him cuter. The whole incident was becoming funny, albeit in an embarrassing way
“Don’t tell me what to do you idiot”
I glanced at Akpos and said “Did that bitch just call you an idiot?” (With my eyes)
“You know what? You’re a spoilt brat Tess and I am tired of putting up with your rude life and constant drama……………….
I came here to have dinner with a beautiful lady (I blushed) and to tell her she makes all the difference in my life”
Akpos took my hands and said “go home baby (what? Me? Baby?) I’ll call you”
Tessie let out a high pitched scream like a wounded cat and started shouting her head off
I looked at her and felt (fake) sorry for her. Now she was calling names and drawing attention. I picked my purse, walked around the table and kissed Akpos…………straight on the lips (he kissed me back). Then I walked out ………….this time, I remembered my practiced catwalk and side smile; not as if it mattered anyways……………………………………….I was walking on the moon.
*I don't know how to say this, I don't even know what to say.................my heart is heavy and everyday I cry......for those kids, for all the people on that plane, for the people the plane fell on their house(s), for the people that go to church on Sundays and can't make it back home, for the people whose lives are destroyed everyday. I cry for Nigeria.

TEMPTATION

“Are you in Lagos?”
“Not yet but I’m almost there”
That was the 60th call I’ve received from Victor in 2 days. I’m beginning to blame myself for giving him my number. On my way home from work the Thursday before, I went to the supermarket so I was carrying 3 bags plus my handbag and running for the last bus. Victor appeared to be going my way and helped me with two of the bags (which was a big relieve). He asked for my phone number and I gave him, what I hadn’t expected was an hourly call.
I had travelled out of town to attend a friend's wedding in Ibadan and was heading back. My phone started ringing again.
“Are you there now?”
“I’m very close to the park”
“Let me pick you at the park”
“emm……..I’m kinda tired………………”
“Ok, ill pick you at the park”
You got to be kidding me, what is rally wrong with this guy?
He was right there when I dropped from the bus. I was too tired to argue, I just got inside the taxi.
“My house is far from here so we’ll just go to my friend’s house since you’re tired and……………………….” I wasn’t listening anymore; I was busy drawing my escape plan in my mind.
We dropped from the bus and entered a compound; I was busy replying my instant messages.
“Hi Tessie” I looked up to see who Tessie is and I saw a would – have – been MBGN. She smiled, said “hi Victor” and was looking at me with a wide grin. Yeah yeah, this scene is so funny or why else will she be looking at me like that? I said a half-hearted Hi, partially relieved we are in a Lady’s house.
Persian rug, sixty-something inches screen, the painting should be around 200k, the sofa……………hard leather.
“Nice place”
“Its not my place”
“Oh”
Turned out Tessie wasn’t so harsh and we were really getting along when somebody came in. I was busy watching a movie I thought has a bad ending but I heard the back slapping and the “hey guy, wats ups”
The person came around and stood between me and the TV, I was forced to look up. I don’t really know maybe my jaw dropped open or I was batting my eyelid so fast or I did any other stupid thing but I was feeling I was not there. The guy is super – handsome (all in capitals). He was laugh-smiling and stretching out his hands.
“My name is Akpos, Akpos Ibrahim”
“What”
He smiled again. “Dad Hausa. Mum, Delta”
“Oh” was all I could say and when he didn’t stop looking at me I said
“My name is Lin…………………Linda, Linda Cokers”
